This year both Carson City School District's NR21 Schools, Carson Middle School and Eagle Valley Middle School, participated in National Digital Learning Day at the Nevada Legislature. Podcasts - Professional Development Anytime, Anywhere

As educators, we are busy.  There are not enough hours in the day for our To Do lists.  Which means making time after school for trainings, advancement courses, and conferences can be tough.  However, filling our personal teaching bucket is very important to stay motivated, energized, and to continue to love our profession. Listening to podcasts on the way to work, on the way home, and in-between errands is a great way to fit in personal PD on a regular basis.

Here are three podcasts to follow to get your weekly dose of PD and obtain engaging ideas for your classroom.

#1 - 10-Minutes Teacher

The 10-Minute Teacher podcast is published weekly, featuring Vicki Davis (@coolcatteacher) and remarkable guests. She touches on a variety of topics at the heart of education, including providing edTech recommendations and how to implement technology in the classroom, teacher burnout, student motivation, and much more. The best part - her podcasts are just 10 minutes long (more or less). Here is a list of a couple favorite episodes to check out:

Chris Nesi is a favorite podcaster.  He features his own monthly podcast called House of EdTech, however, is he also a producer for a number of other amazing podcasts. Each episode features an edTech recommendation. He thoroughly explains the application/ tool and how it might be utilized in your classroom. Each episode also features an edTech VIP you can connect with on social media to expand your personal PLN (Professional Learning Network). However, what makes this podcast truly unique is the practical suggestions to implement technology in the classroom. These are some episodes to explore:

#3 - Google Teacher Tribe

The Google Teacher Tribe features Ditch that Textbook author and presenter Matt Miller alongside tech guru Kasey Bell, author of Shake-up Learning. What makes this podcast shine is the practical, creative, and engaging educational activities presented. The suggested activities discuss how G-Suite applications and extensions can be used in innovative and dynamic ways. Best of all Matt and Kasey include links to the resources and templates shared in the show notes for FREE. Here are a few favorite episodes:

It only takes minutes to spark inspiration.  Try listening to podcasts to get your "spark" for the week.
